Evadne Brooks
Evadne hails from New York and is no stranger to the spotlight. Vocally
trained at the age of thirteen by her mother, who helped cultivate and shape her vocal style. Growing up on the Motown Sound she takes her cues by some of the greats such as Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, and Chaka Khan to name a few. Evadne chose early on to pursue a career in the Performing Arts by first splitting her time between taking
core classes in L.I.C. high school and Musical Theater in the Julia Richmond program
for the Performing Arts. This was a pivotal point in her academic career as some of her acting heroes were Sidney Portier, Ruby Dee, and Denzel Washington. Naturally she would aspire to seek this path as this would be her first introduction to Theater, and Dance. This would ultimately land her a role as a backup dancer in the high school version of West Side Story and understudied as Maria. Other plays followed with roles
in such plays as Guys and Dolls, A Raisin in the Sun and most recent, A Midsummers Night’s Dream in the lead role of Theseus (the Dutchess). Evadne also landed gigs as
an Extra on various television shows such as Orange is the New Black, Law & Order SVU, Blue Collar and many more. As a recent graduate of CUNY Queens College with
a B.A. in Theater Studies, Evadne is a trained Method Actor. Taking her studies to the max, Evadne sought courses in Theater in her home school of Queens College, as well as Hunter, Lehman, and City College to incorporate various disciplines to add to her repertoire giving her a world class education and view. After careful and thoughtful consideration Evadne was tapped for her first major role, straight out of College, in the play Whose Side Are You On? as Mrs. Spencer. It is without a doubt, Evadne’s star is
on the rise, and she is ready and well equipped to take the world by storm.
